Motivation

The current chip crisis has demonstrated the dependence of German industry on advanced microelectronics. This dependence exists not only in terms of chip production facilities, but also in terms of important basic elements for chip design (IP, standards) as well as the number of available developers.

The increasingly complex designs required for advanced manufacturing technologies also mean that larger development teams are needed. The documents from the environment of the European Chips Act already take this situation into account and refer to the special importance of training engineers for system design, chip design and test development in Europe.
