CHIPS.NRW is establishing an ecosystem for young talents to start a career in the chip design industry and wants to enable more SMEs and startups to build scalable products based on custom microchips. CHIPS.NRW provides help for SMEs and startups to get their idea into a chip. We remove entry barriers by giving access to a network of experienced design houses and device manufactures, as well as to design tools, prototype manufacturing, consulting, design training and chip IP.

CHIPS.NRW aligns academic education and research with the needs of our local industrial partners, making sure research results will quickly create impact through new products and young talents will easily find a local position that matches their profile.
Our members are leading in chips for RF, sensing, automotive, medical and HPC. Through CHIPS.NRW you can find the right partners to support your design teams through IP exchange or collaborative development.
We can leverage open-source design tools and open hardware like RISC-V to provide cost efficient templates and preconfigured tool chains for custom chip development, bringing chip design into reach for SMEs.
We coordinate joint prototype manufacturing and an infrastructure for
distributed design to help teams gain a critical mass for large SoCs in next-gen technologies.
